RATES for Manuscript Review/Proof-reading/Editing Services
- Manuscript assessment including in-depth feedback on each chapter: €60 per hour (approximately 12hrs to read 80,000 words)
- Proofreading or light copy-editing: Standard copy-editing: €40 per hour
- Substantive/developmental editing and fact-checking: €45+ per hour
- Formatting book for publishing €40 per hour
- Cover design €50 per hour
- Private one-to-one mentoring €60 an hour including follow up feedback.

I stopped writing sometime around 2017 and it’s now 2024. I couldn’t get started again.
Over recent years it was causing me much discomfort like a tumble drier in my gut without an off button. I had all but despaired when I was fortunate enough to attend a Creative Writing course by Nicola Kearns with one to one mentoring. The writing exercises she set got me writing again and it was like a sharp intake of breath, of fresh air, after being under water for too long. I had been drowning in my need to write. This miracle was down to Nicola’s encouraging style and compassion which comes out of her vast knowledge and experience. Sharing your writing can feel vulnerable and risky but Nicola is never judgemental or harsh. It felt safe, exciting and above all hopeful. Nicola works very hard
